What Does a Shipping Fulfillment Company Do?

 
A shipping fulfillment company stores your inventory, picks and packs each order, and chooses the carrier and service level. It prints the label, hands the package or pallet to the carrier and pushes tracking back to your store. For wholesale orders it also books the freight and builds pallets to the retailer's routing guide.
Postage is most of what a shipped order costs, and most of it is decided at pack-out. Carton size sets the billable weight. The service level chosen at the label printer sets the price. The carrier handoff time decides whether a same-day order leaves the same day. A 3PL that treats shipping as "slap a label on it" leaves money on every carton. Same-Day Shipping Cutoff and Delivery Times

What a 3PL means by "same day" is when your order leaves the building. The carrier then decides how long delivery takes. Here's the sequence and the numbers.

    Orders from your store, marketplace or EDI feed that land by the cutoff are released to the floor the same day.

  2. Picked, packed and measured

    Barcode-verified picks, then each carton is weighed and dimensioned at pack-out.

  3. Rate-shopped label

    The label is chosen across carriers and service levels against the delivery promise you set.

  4. Carrier handoff the same day

    Parcels leave on the day's carrier pickups; freight leaves on its booked appointment.

What Gets Checked Before a Label Prints

Most shipping errors are packing errors: wrong item, wrong carton, wrong weight. Checks sit where those errors start.

  1. Identify the tote

    The associate scans the tote barcode so the pick is tied to the right container.

  2. Verify the item

    Each unit barcode is checked against what the WMS expects. A mismatch does not register and has to be corrected before the workflow continues.

  3. Match carton to order

    The packed carton is weighed against the order's expected weight before the label is released.

Which carriers do you use?

Do you ship internationally?
Yes. International parcels ship through KSP's carrier network. Duties, documentation and restricted products depend on the destination, so review international lanes during onboarding.
How do I track an order shipped by KSP?
If you bought from a brand that ships through KSP, your tracking number is in that brand's shipping confirmation email. Contact the brand for order questions. Brands that ship with KSP get tracking pushed back to their store and can check order status through their KSP system access.
