How does TikTok Shop fulfillment work? TikTok Shop orders ship one of two ways. You or your 3PL store the stock, pack each order and ship it under Seller Shipping or TikTok Shipping, or you send inventory to TikTok's warehouses through Fulfilled by TikTok (FBT) and TikTok packs and ships it. Regular orders need a carrier scan within 2 business days.
TikTok Shop fulfillment works one of two ways. You, or a 3PL working for you, store the inventory, pack each order and hand it to a carrier with tracking posted back to TikTok, or you send stock into TikTok's own warehouses through Fulfilled by TikTok (FBT) and TikTok packs and ships it. Both routes follow the same clock: a regular order needs a carrier scan within 2 business days. Most brands selling on TikTok also sell on Shopify, Amazon or Walmart. For them the choice comes down to whether TikTok orders ship from a separate pile of stock or from the 3PL fulfillment center that ships every other channel. The rules below come from TikTok's own US policy pages, updated between July and October 2026.
How does TikTok Shop fulfillment work?
TikTok's US Fulfillment Policy, updated September 28, 2026, names the shipping methods a seller can use. Two of them leave storage and packing with you or your 3PL. FBT hands both to TikTok.
| Method | Who stores and packs the order | TikTok metrics that apply |
|---|---|---|
| Seller Shipping | You or your 3PL, on your own carrier account | Late dispatch, valid tracking, on-time delivery |
| TikTok Shipping, including Upgraded TikTok Shipping and Collections by TikTok | You or your 3PL, shipped through TikTok's shipping service | Late dispatch, on-time delivery |
| Fulfilled by TikTok (FBT) | TikTok, from its own warehouses | None of the three: FBT orders are exempt |
The packaging rules split the same way. Sellers on Seller Shipping, TikTok Shipping or Collections by TikTok pack and label to TikTok's packaging standards, and boxes damaged in transit count against fulfillment quality. FBT sellers aren't held to those packaging rules, because TikTok's warehouse packs the order.
Under FBT you send inventory in, TikTok stores it, and TikTok picks, packs and ships your TikTok Shop orders and handles their returns. TikTok describes FBT as "a warehousing and shipping service that helps you deliver products efficiently to TikTok Shop customers." The units you send in are there for TikTok orders.
Do you have to use Fulfilled by TikTok?
No. TikTok Shop sellers can still ship their own orders or have a 3PL ship them. In January 2026, TikTok told US sellers that Seller Shipping would end on February 25, 2026, and that orders would have to move to FBT, Upgraded TikTok Shipping or Collections by TikTok, according to ppc.land's report on the seller notice. TikTok paused that requirement before it took effect. Its US Fulfillment Policy dated September 28, 2026 still lists Seller Shipping as an active method, with its own tracking rules.
Because the rule could come back, keep inventory where you can still move it. Stock sitting at a 3PL can still go into FBT later, for the SKUs where FBT's numbers work. Stock sitting in FBT only serves TikTok, and getting it back out goes through TikTok's removal process.
FBT vs a 3PL: where the difference shows up
FBT fits a brand that sells mostly on TikTok with simple, single-unit SKUs. A 3PL is the better fit once you sell on more than one channel, sell kits, or sell products that melt or expire. Here's how the two compare, side by side:
| Factor | Fulfilled by TikTok | A 3PL like KSP |
|---|---|---|
| Inventory across channels | A separate count that fills TikTok orders | One count behind TikTok, Shopify, Amazon and Walmart orders |
| Kits and bundles | Arrive pre-built, barcoded as a set and labeled "Sold As A Set" | Built on the 3PL's kitting floor and shipped with the day's orders |
| Branded packaging | TikTok's warehouse packs the order | Packed to your brand spec on every channel |
| Returns | Handled by FBT | Received, inspected, graded and reported back to you |
| Meltables and shelf life | Meltables accepted October 16 to April 14 only, supplements need 270 days of shelf life | Climate-controlled storage all year |
| Cost | FBT fee schedule, plus repeat inbound freight and removal or disposal fees | One quote, walked through line by line |
| TikTok's dispatch metrics | Exempt | The 3PL's cutoff has to beat the 2-day dispatch window |
Inventory split across channels
If TikTok is your only channel, FBT keeps everything in one place. Once you also sell on Shopify or Amazon, FBT means a second inventory count. Units in TikTok's warehouse fill TikTok orders, and units at your own warehouse or 3PL fill everything else. When a creator video takes off, the TikTok pile sells through while your Shopify stock sits in another building, and restocking means another inbound shipment to TikTok.
Split counts also make overselling easier, and TikTok scores it. Its policy counts cancellations due to lack of inventory as seller-fault cancellations and holds sellers to a seller-fault cancellation rate of 2.5% or lower.
A 3PL with one inventory pool ships TikTok, Shopify and Amazon orders from the same count, so a TikTok spike can draw on all of your stock. That's the model in our guide to omnichannel fulfillment from one inventory count, and it's how KSP ships for brands selling on Shopify, Amazon, Walmart and TikTok Shop.
Kits and bundles
FBT takes bundles, but they have to arrive already built. TikTok's FBT packaging policy says a bundled set must be packed together, carry a unique barcode on the bundle with the individual item barcodes hidden, and be labeled "Sold As A Set" and "Do Not Open." Someone has to build those sets before they ship to TikTok, and each new bundle for a creator drop or a holiday means another build and another inbound shipment.
A 3PL with its own kitting floor builds the set in the building that ships it. KSP has built 20.9M kits on a 50,000 sq ft kitting floor, so gift sets and multi-packs ship with the rest of the day's orders. Our guide to kitting and fulfillment under one roof walks through how that works.
Branded packaging and inserts
Under FBT, TikTok's warehouse packs each order. If your unboxing ends up on camera, with a custom mailer, tissue or an insert card, you want the order packed by a warehouse that follows your packing spec. At a 3PL, a DTC order is one parcel packed to your brand spec, and the same spec applies whether the order came from TikTok or your own store.
Returns
FBT handles returns on its orders. With a 3PL, returned TikTok units come back to the building that holds the rest of your stock. At KSP, returns are received, inspected and graded, sellable units go back to available stock, and you get a report of every return and its condition.
TikTok scores sellers on aftersales handling time, which includes the time spent inspecting a returned item before approving the refund, and it calls 12 hours or less healthy. A graded return report gives you the condition you need to approve or reject the refund.
Shelf life and heat
FBT's product rules shut out a lot of supplement, candy and beauty stock for half the year. FBT accepts meltable products, such as chocolate, gummies, wax and certain cosmetics, only between October 16 and April 14. Meltables received or stored from April 15 to October 15 may be treated as unsellable and returned or disposed of for a fee, and TikTok tells sellers to pack them to survive 75°F to 155°F.
Expiration-dated products must arrive with their full use period plus 90 days of shelf life. TikTok sets that minimum at 270 days for vitamins and supplements and 365 days for skincare and bath and body products. Ingestibles also need lot codes on each unit.
KSP stores inventory in climate-controlled, FDA-registered space all year, so a July creator push on gummies ships from the same shelf as a January one.
Cost
FBT's fees sit inside TikTok's FBT Merchant Academy, behind a seller login, so get the current schedule and set it beside a 3PL quote line by line. Then add the costs neither rate card shows: extra inbound freight each time the TikTok pile runs low, removal or disposal fees on meltables caught in the summer window, and bundles built somewhere else before they ship to TikTok. KSP ships at discounted carrier rates and walks you through an invoice and your program line by line before you sign.
When FBT fits, and when a 3PL fits better
FBT fits when TikTok is most of your volume, your SKUs are single units that don't melt or expire quickly, and you don't have a warehouse of your own. FBT orders are exempt from TikTok's late dispatch, valid tracking and on-time delivery metrics, and for a brand with nobody packing orders that exemption is worth a lot.
A 3PL is the better fit when any of these is true:
- TikTok is one channel among several, and you want one inventory count behind all of them.
- You sell kits, bundles or gift sets that change with each campaign.
- Your products are supplements, gummies, chocolate or skincare that run into FBT's heat window and shelf-life minimums.
- Your packaging and inserts are part of the product.
If you ship 500 or more orders a month across TikTok Shop and a store or marketplace, that's the mix KSP's fulfillment center is built for.
What TikTok Shop's shipping rules mean for your 3PL
TikTok's clock starts when an order moves to Awaiting Shipment. For a regular order:
- Dispatch: a carrier scan within 2 business days, which moves the order to In Transit.
- Auto-cancel: TikTok cancels the order if tracking isn't added within 5 business days.
- Delivery: marked delivered within 6 business days.
Business days skip Saturdays, Sundays and US federal holidays, so an order placed Friday night needs its carrier scan by Tuesday. TikTok recommends keeping late dispatch at 4% of orders or less. Above 10%, enforcement can start, from Account Health point deductions to order volume limits and suspension.
A creator video can put several days of normal volume into one evening, and each of those orders starts its own 2-day clock. What keeps you inside the window is your 3PL's daily cutoff and how fast it picks. Ask any 3PL for the cutoff hour and time zone, what happens to an order that lands after it, and how it staffs a spike.
At KSP, TikTok Shop orders received by 2 PM CST ship the same day, and orders are picked and packed in under 30 minutes, with 135+ Locus robots carrying order totes through picking. KSP holds 99.999% order accuracy across 32.1M orders. TikTok lists missing items and wrong items among its examples of poor fulfillment quality, so that number counts against the same metric TikTok watches.
Set your shop's handling time in Seller Center to match your 3PL's cutoff. TikTok lets regular orders use a handling time of 1 to 2 business days, and for shops on the default setting it adjusts that number from past performance.
How to connect TikTok Shop to a 3PL
- Connect the shop. KSP's Logiwa WMS connects to TikTok Shop through a prebuilt connector, listed with Shopify, Amazon and Walmart on our integrations page. Orders drop into the WMS as customers place them. For a system that isn't on the list, KSP's in-house tech team handles most custom API builds in under a week.
- Map SKUs and bundles. Match each TikTok listing to a warehouse SKU. Connectors move standard order fields, so bundles, gift notes and custom fields get a rule before go-live.
- Choose the shipping method in Seller Center. On Seller Shipping, the 3PL's tracking number posts back to TikTok, and TikTok holds you to a valid tracking rate of 95% or better.
- Set handling time to match the 3PL's cutoff.
- Test orders end to end with live SKUs before inventory arrives.
- Send one inbound shipment. Inventory gets received against your advance ship notice, counted and put away, and that one count stocks TikTok and every other channel.
Frequently asked questions
Do TikTok Shop sellers have to use Fulfilled by TikTok?
No. TikTok paused its plan to end Seller Shipping on February 25, 2026, and its US Fulfillment Policy dated September 28, 2026 still lists Seller Shipping. You can ship TikTok Shop orders yourself or through a 3PL, as long as each regular order gets a carrier scan within 2 business days.
Can a 3PL fulfill TikTok Shop orders?
Yes. A 3PL connects to your TikTok Shop, receives orders as customers place them, picks, packs and ships them, and posts tracking back to TikTok. KSP connects TikTok Shop to its Logiwa WMS through a prebuilt connector and ships orders received by 2 PM CST the same day.
How fast do TikTok Shop orders have to ship?
Regular TikTok Shop orders need a carrier scan within 2 business days of Awaiting Shipment and delivery within 6 business days. TikTok auto-cancels orders without tracking after 5 business days. Business days exclude weekends and US federal holidays, and late dispatch above 10% of orders can trigger enforcement.
Can you send gummies or chocolate to Fulfilled by TikTok?
Only part of the year. FBT accepts meltable products such as chocolate, gummies, wax and certain cosmetics between October 16 and April 14. Meltables received or stored from April 15 to October 15 may be treated as unsellable and returned or disposed of for a fee.
Ship your TikTok orders from the same shelf as Shopify
Send KSP your TikTok Shop along with your other channels, and every order ships from one inventory count. TikTok orders received by 2 PM CST go out the same day, kits get built on our own floor, and gummies sit in climate-controlled storage in July the same as in January.
Tell us your monthly order count, which channels you sell on and which SKUs move on TikTok. We'll map your listings to our WMS, show you how a creator spike would move through the pick floor, and walk you through an invoice line by line.
